Key responsibilities for the Payroll Specialist:
- Manage garnishments, including processing deductions and ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
- Handle union payroll, ensuring adherence to collective bargaining agreements and accurate calculation of union dues.
- Reconcile and verify the accuracy of employee and employer federal, state, and local tax withholdings using monthly, quarterly, and yearly payroll registers (MTD, QTD, YTD).
- Prepare and file timely withholding tax returns to federal, state, and local authorities, meeting all established deadlines.
- Reconcile federal, state, and local tax accrual accounts in the general ledger, ensuring accurate posting of payroll withholdings and payments from the accounts payable system
- Assist in preparing Forms W-2 and W-2c, issuing duplicate W-2s, and handling any necessary tax return amendments.
Key qualifications for the Payroll Specialist:
- Must have 2+ years of payroll processing and garnishments experience
- Experience ADP Vantage or ADP Workforce Now is required)
- Union experience is a huge plus for this role
